The minor types C5 and C9 were further subdivided into

three and two, respectively, by PFGE and VNTR-MIRU subdivided C16 into two types. By combining PFGE and VNTR-MIRU or all three typing techniques it was possible to discriminate 37 and 44 patterns, respectively (Table 4 and see Additional file 2: Table S2).
