The HIBISCUS-STROKE cohort is characterized by acute ischemic stroke patients receiving mechanical thrombectomy following their MRI assessment. The absence of success in mechanical thrombectomy was indicated by a modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction score of 0. Admission magnetic resonance perfusion data were re-evaluated by two sets of software, each with escalating time-to-maximum (Tmax) thresholds (6 seconds, 8 seconds, and 10 seconds). These results were then compared to the final infarct volume on day-6 MRI.
The study cohort comprised eighteen patients. Increasing the threshold from 6 seconds to 10 seconds resulted in considerably smaller perfusion deficit volumes for both sets of packages. For package A, Tmax6s and Tmax8s models resulted in a moderate overestimation of the final infarct volume. Specifically, the median absolute difference for Tmax6s was -95 mL (interquartile range -175 to +9 mL) and for Tmax8s 2 mL (interquartile range -81 to 48 mL). In comparison to Tmax10s, Bland-Altman analysis showed a superior correlation with final infarct volume, characterized by tighter agreement intervals. In package B, the Tmax10s measurement showed a difference closer to the final infarct volume than the Tmax6s measurement; the median absolute difference for Tmax10s was -101mL (IQR -177 to -29), while that for Tmax6s was -218mL (IQR -367 to -95). Bland-Altman plots provided confirmation of these results, showing the mean absolute difference to be 22 mL for one instance and 315 mL for the other.
The optimal Tmax threshold for identifying the ischemic penumbra was found to be 6 seconds for package A and 10 seconds for package B, suggesting that a universal 6-second threshold may not be optimal for all MRP software packages. Future validation studies will be required to determine the optimal Tmax threshold specific to each package design.

Four species—Dichotomius horridus (Felsche, 1911) of Brazil, French Guiana, and Suriname; Dichotomius nimuendaju (Luederwaldt, 1925) of Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru; Dichotomius quadrinodosus (Felsche, 1901) of Brazil; and Dichotomius reclinatus (Felsche, 1901) of Colombia and Ecuador—that were formerly part of the Dichotomius buqueti species group are contained within this group. insects infection model We present both a definition and an identification key for the D. reclinatus species group. Throughout the world, members of this family are important biological control agents, known for their role in eliminating phytophagous arthropods, particularly in managing pest spider mites on a range of plant species, from cultivated fields to natural habitats. Yet, certain individuals are capable of controlling thrips populations in both protected and exposed agricultural settings. Publications concerning Latin American species have appeared in several studies. Brazil was the location of the most comprehensive studies. The successful implementation of biological control methods often involves phytoseiid mites, as seen in two influential programs: the biocontrol of cassava green mites in Africa achieved through the use of Typhlodromalus aripo (Deleon), and the biocontrol of citrus and avocado mites in California, which benefitted from the use of Euseius stipulatus (Athias-Henriot). Latin America sees rising deployments of phytoseiid mites to biologically manage different kinds of phytophagous mites. A limited repertoire of successful models has emerged thus far, pertaining to this area of study. A crucial requirement emerges from this observation: continued exploration into the viability of utilizing unidentified species in biological control, contingent upon cooperative efforts between researchers and biological control firms. Further challenges exist, including the creation of advanced livestock rearing systems to provide a substantial number of predators to farmers across various agricultural systems, the education of farmers in effective predator utilization, and chemical treatments dedicated to preserving biological controls, anticipating a considerable boost in the application of phytoseiid mites as biological control agents in Latin America and the Caribbean.
