Indications for surgery were: symptomatic lesions, preoperative diagnosis of adenoma or cystadenoma, and lesions with an indeterminate diagnosis. The preoperative diagnosis was uncertain in 11 cases. Of these, histological diagnosis was hepatocellular carcinoma in one (9%) and benign lesion in 10 patients (91%). Thirteen patients (28%) required major hepatectomy. Three patients (7%) developed postoperative complications. Mortality was nil. The median postoperative hospital stay following major and minor hepatectomy was 4 and 3 days, respectively.

Across a sample of over 100 males, no measure of song performance was related to male age or condition, nor did song performance improve with age for those males recorded in consecutive years. In all cases, the variation in song performance explained by these predictors was small (<4%). Instead, the more song types we recorded from a male, the more likely we were to record high-performance songs, and this sampling effect was stronger than putative correlations with male quality. These results complement a previous study on this population showing that most variation in performance is found among song types rather than among males.

“Background/Aims: The effect of hepatocellular cancer (HCC) in patients transplanted for hepatitis B and D virus (HB/DV) cirrhosis is not well studied. On day 14, pruritus was reported by significantly more subjects in the placebo group than those in the ivermectin group for both the per-protocol (PP) population (91.42% versus 68.57%, P = 0.014) and the intention-to-treat (ITT) population (92.5% versus 73.80%, P = 0.038). No significant effect was observed at day 28. Ivermectin was the only independent Galardin mw factor associated with the absence of pruritus at day 14 in both PP population [OR: 4.60 (95% CI:1.13; 18.73), P = 0.033] and ITT population [OR: 4.38 (95% CI: 1.07; 17.77), P = 0.039].\n\nConclusions: A single dose of oral ivermectin has a transient beneficial effect on the reduction of the prevalence of pruritus in the homeless population. More studies are required to assess the efficacy of multiple repeated treatments with ivermectin to reduce scabies and body lice endemic among homeless people with pruritus and the impact of such treatment on this population.”
